Lentisk (Chios Mastic)
The resin contains numerous micro-elements such as polyphenols, terpene acids and essential oils, which perform a documented antibacterial action, especially against Helicobacter pylori.
The leaves, rich in mucilage, give the plant emollient and anti-inflammatory properties. The mucilage cover the mucosa in film, which protects it from gastric juices. Thanks to these properties, Mallow can help treat gastritis, heartburn and oesophageal reflux.
The structure of alginic acid is similar to pectin, and therefore it gels in contact with water (it can absorb up to 200 times its weight in water). The gel prevents stomach content from flowing back into the oesophagus.
It is used in state-of-the-art products. It protects and regenerates the gastric mucous tissue when damaged by small ulcers.
It performs a buffer action.
